Nothing compares to a beautiful sunset along the Pacific Ocean. Golden and warm, with the light glistening across the waves that crash relentlessly against the shores. Framed by the rugged sandstone cliffs, the scene presents a symphony of motion and stillness, that of power and peace. There is something deeply calming in this dramatic contrast—perhaps that is also why Montara State Beach boasts some of the most breathtaking sunsets in the Bay Area. Spend an hour walking its shores or simply sitting still, and all your worries simply melt away into a distant background.

Tips
- Bring warm clothing along. With the fog being a common feature, the weather can change drastically within minutes.
- There are two main parking lots available: at Martini Creek in the north and near 2nd street in the south. Both are free, but availability might be limited depending on the weather and day of the week.
