You know this is when you have entered Hope Valley, where the two highways converge and a fall wonderland with quaking aspens showing their brightest colors.
Located about 20 miles from South Lake Tahoe, Hope Valley is perfect for leaf-peeping enthusiasts from the Bay Area or Central Valley to get their quick fix of fall colors. There is no lack of aspens on vibrant display along the highway, so just pull up wherever legally permitted and take in the views!

Tips
- Go in the morning or early afternoon, and ideally under (mostly) sunny conditions. The aspens’ golden tones are truly amplified by the light you get.
